Our Story

Chavez Family of Companies traces its roots to the Imperial Valley through four generations of agricultural work, entrepreneurship, and operational leadership built from the fields up.

Generational Beginnings

Our family’s history in California agriculture began during the Bracero Program, when our great-grandfather, Juan Vega Chavez, immigrated from Mexico to work in the fields of Northern California.

The foundation of our family’s work was built on discipline, responsibility, and an understanding that opportunity must be earned.

After working in labor camps as a cook, he settled in Calipatria, California and began building a life in the Imperial Valley grounded in hard work, discipline, and opportunity.

From Labor to Ownership

What began in the fields has grown into a diversified network of agricultural and operational companies serving California and beyond.

He became a licensed farm labor contractor, built long-term grower relationships, and cultivated his own forage crops including Bermuda grass, alfalfa, and cotton.

Over time, the operation expanded into melon production including cantaloupes and onion cultivation, marking the transition from labor provider to agricultural producer.

Built on Agriculture. Evolved for Today.

Today, Chavez Family of Companies carries that legacy forward through equipment rental, contract packing, forage production, and custom growing operations grounded in discipline, reliability, and long-term partnerships.
